The Gift That Started It All: From Controller to Force Feedback

For years, I talked about getting into sim racing. I would always tell my wife and family that I wanted to do it, but the cost and space requirements felt like huge barriers. I knew that once I did it properly, I’d be all in.

I continued playing racing games casually, unaware of the community growing exponentially just outside my periphery. Then, in January 2022, just after Christmas, my in-laws arrived at the house. “Get up,” they said, “we’re going to fetch something.”

They whisked me away and bought me a brand-new Logitech G920 and a Firebeast ADX Simracing seat. It was nothing short of amazing. I was so grateful, and once I set it up and felt real force feedback for the first time, I knew instantly: this was only going to go one way.

I loved that G920. Even on console, I was setting fairly decent lap times. I wasn’t an alien, but I was quick enough, enjoying myself, and building my racecraft every single day. The journey had truly begun.
